Hosting the EQ Café session on Reconnecting with Self was a meaningful and introspective experience. It created a safe and open space where the participants could pause, reflect, and connect—both with themselves and with others—on a deeper emotional level.

One of the most impactful aspects was the power of active listening. Rather than listening to respond, I found myself listening to understand. This shift allowed me to appreciate different perspectives shared by the participants, and made conversations feel more authentic and respectful.

The session also helped me become more aware of my own emotions. I noticed how often emotions arise subtly and how important it is to acknowledge them instead of ignoring or suppressing them. This awareness is the first step toward navigating emotions more effectively in both personal and professional settings.

Another key takeaway was the importance of creating space—space to think, to feel, and to express freely. In our fast-paced daily lives, we rarely give ourselves permission to SLOW down (the acronym for Slow down, Look inside, Open to meaning, and Welcome emotions). This EQ Café reminded me that meaningful conversations don’t need to be rushed; they need to be present.

I also appreciated the sense of connection and empathy that emerged throughout the session. Hearing others share openly made me realize that many of our experiences and challenges are more universal than we think. This fosters compassion and reduces the sense of isolation.

In short, the EQ Café session reinforced that emotional intelligence is a skill that can be learned and strengthened. It enables us to better understand and navigate our own emotions and those of others.

Join me for the next Cafe and let’s practice emotional intelligence together!
